Hasan had links with Obaidullah

Arrested Jama'atul Mujahidin Bangladesh (JMB) militant Hasanuzzaman Hasan who was arrested by Detective Branch (DB) police from a house at Rasulpur Friday was placed on a ten-day remand yesterday. Investigation officer (IO) sub-inspector (SI) Amar Roy said police hope to gather more important information from him about JMB activities in the country. Hasanuzzaman Hasan, 32, son of Mahfuzur Rahman of village Tengra Bhabanipur in Sadar upazila was arrested from house of one Arifur Rahman at Rasulpur. Sources said Hasan, a listed JMB activist, went into hiding soon after the August 17, 2005 series bomb blasts in the town but recently returned to the area. A source in the DB police said Hasan had regular contact with Mufti Obaidullah, the most wanted Laskar-e-Taiyeba leader, who was arrested last week by DB police in Dhaka. Quoting Hasan, the DB police said he came in contact with Obaidullah while he and Obaidullah were teachers of a madrasa at Machhna village in Manirampur upazila of Jessore.
