Fake fertiliser factory found
Detective Branch (DB) of police last evening unearthed a clandestine fertilizer factory near Rajshahi City Hat and arrested its owner and manager.
They also seized 500 sacks of spurious fertiliser from the factory.
The arrestees are M Waliullah, proprietor of the fake fertiliser manufacturer Victor Agro Science, and its manager Abdul Alim, a resident of Basantakedar in Mohonpur upazila.
Acting on a tip, a DB police team led by Assistant Commissioner (AC) Mahfuzur Rahman and Sub Inspector Dilip Kumar Das raided the city Hat area beside the Rajshahi bypass road and found the factory at around 7:00pm.
Each sack of the seized fertiliser carried inscriptions saying that it is 'energy organic fertiliser' and produced by Victor Agro Sine, Dhaka.
But the fertiliser is produced locally with cow dung, ashes and wastes, said DB police.
"Two of the sacks were taken to police custody as evidence while the rest of the seized fertiliser was kept at the factory,” said AC Mahfuzur Rahman.
The factory authorities used to sell fertilisers in Rajshahi and surrounding districts without any legal authority, said police.
