3 from Ctg family killed in Oman car crash

Three members of a family from Fatikchari upazila of Chattogram were killed in a fatal road accident in Oman on Friday night, the authorities said, quoting family members.

The accident occurred in Oman’s Salalah at around 8:00 pm local time.

The deceased were identified as Bilkis Begum, wife of Shafiul Alam; her son Muhammad Sakibul Hasan and son-in-law Didarul Alam. The family hails from Sundarpur Union of Fatikchari upazila.

On Friday, the family members went to Salalah to visit a shrine. While returning, the car carrying five people hit a camel and overturned on the road, leaving three dead and two injured.

“We assured the family of providing maximum support if they want to bring the bodies back to Bangladesh,” said Sayed Mohammed Ibrahim, Fatikchari upazila nirbahi officer.

Shafiul is a businessman in Oman and has been residing in the Middle Eastern country for a long time, his business partner Muhammad Parvez told local reporters.
