Fire at Ctg Shopping Complex brought under control after 90 minutes
A fire that broke out at the Chittagong Shopping Complex, located near the city's Sholashahar Gate No 2 area, this morning was brought under control after approximately one and a half hours.
According to the fire service control room, the alert was received at 9:40am. In response, five units from two separate stations were dispatched immediately to the scene.
Abdul Mannan, deputy assistant director of Chattogram Fire Service and Civil Defence, confirmed that while the flames have been extinguished, a heavy blanket of smoke remains trapped inside the market.
"The fire is under control. However, due to the dense smoke accumulated within the building, we have not yet been able to confirm if anyone is trapped inside. Our firefighters are currently working through the smoke to conduct a thorough search," the official stated.
The exact cause of the fire and the extent of the damage are yet to be determined as investigations continue, he said.
