Gazipur crash claims lives of 2 childhood friends
Two men were killed after a truck travelling on the wrong side of the road hit their motorcycle in Sreepur upazila of Gazipur last night.
The accident took place near Shishutosh Bidyaghar in the Jaina Bazar area along the Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway; the deceased were identified as Kawsar Ahmed, 24, and Solaiman Hossain, 22, both from Keraniganj, said Maona Highway Police Station Officer-in-Charge Mohammad Kamruzzaman.
Police recovered the bodies after receiving information about the accident, he added.
The truck involved in the crash and the motorcycle were taken to the police station.
Solaiman worked at a private company, while Kawsar was employed at a fruit shop; the two had been close friends since childhood, said their families.
Faisal Ahmed, Kawsar's elder brother, said four friends were travelling from Keraniganj to Mymensingh on two motorcycles to visit a friend of Solaiman's. As they reached the Jaina Bazar area, a truck travelling on the wrong side of the road collided head-on with their motorcycle.
Kawsar and Solaiman sustained severe injuries in the crash and died at the scene from excessive bleeding, he added.
