Two people, including a minor boy, were killed in separate road accidents in Dhaka's Jatrabari and Demra areas late Saturday night, police said.

The identities of both victims remain unknown.

In Jatrabari, a truck ran over around 13-year-old boy, believed to be a street child who collected scrap for a living, around 11:00pm in front of Donia College.

The child was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH), where doctors declared him dead, Imran Hossain, a sub-inspector of Jatrabari Police Station.

In another incident, an unidentified van driver, aged around 40, was killed on the Staff Quarter Bridge in Demra when a speeding human-hauler, locally known as leguna, hit a battery-run rickshaw, which then hit his van.

The van driver was thrown off the bridge and got severe injuries, said Rabiul Islam, a witnesses.

He was rushed to DMCH where doctors pronounced him dead.

Both bodies have been sent to the DMCH morgue for autopsy, said inspector Md Farouk of DMCH police outpost.
