8 police personnel injured as vehicle overturns in Brahmanbaria
Eight police personnel were injured, two of them seriously, after a police vehicle overturned in Banchharampur upazila in Brahmanbaria while en route to offer a ceremonial salute to State Minister for Finance and Planning Zonayed Saki.
The accident occurred around 7:30 am in the Velanagar area under Chhayfullakandi union, confirmed Additional Superintendent of Police (Nabinagar Circle) Piash Basak.
According to police sources, a team left Brahmanbaria Police Lines in a vehicle to attend the programme. The driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle, and it overturned, falling into the land beside the road.
Nayek Jewel Mia and Constable Sharif sustained serious injuries, while the other injured are Constables Mohiuddin, Mehedi Hasan, Zahir Raihan, Abdul Salam, Mainul Hasan, and ASI Nizam.
All were taken to Banchharampur Upazila Health Complex for treatment.
The two critically injured officers were later referred to Central Police Hospital in Dhaka by government ambulance for advanced care.
Authorities said the cause of the accident is under investigation.
