Fire at Narayanganj plastic factory under control after four hours
A fire that broke out at a plastic goods manufacturing factory in Narayanganj Sadar early today was brought under control after four hours, according to the Fire Service.
The blaze erupted around 1:45am at Plastic Sign Private Limited in Mosinabond area of Gognagar union.
Seven fire fighting units worked continuously until about 6:00am to contain the flames, said Abdullah Al Arefin, deputy assistant director of Narayanganj Fire Service.
The factory, which produces polythene bags, hangers and scotch tape, suffered damage to its semi‑pucca building. No casualties were reported.
“The fire may have originated from a short circuit. As plastic raw materials and products were stored inside, the fire spread rapidly. However, the exact cause will be confirmed after investigation,” Arefin said.
