BGB members recovered six gold bars, worth around Tk 2.6 crore, from Benapole's Daulatpur border area in Jashore's Sharsa upazila yesterday.

Acting on a tip-off, a BGB team raided on a bank of the Ichamati river and recovered the bars, weighing 3.35kg, around 1:30pm. The smugglers, however, managed to flee the spot after sensing the presence of the law enforcers, said Lt Col Tanveer Rahman, commanding officer of 21 BGB Battalion.

"The bars were being smuggled to India," he added.
