Man killed in his sleep 'by younger brother'

A man died after being his throat was slit, allegedly by his younger brother, while he was asleep at home in Manikganj's Singair upazila early today.

The deceased was Abu Raihan, 27, of Vakum Fakirpara village.

Police and family members said Raihan was stabbed by his younger brother Roman, 24, who is now on the run.

Police are trying to arrest Roman, Officer-in-Charge of Singair Police Station Syed Mizanur Islam said.

Police and family members said Roman was in a feud with his family, including his two brothers, as they did not accept his marriage and did not allow Roman's wife into the house.

Besides, there was also a feud over money.

Last night, the three brothers went to sleep in the room they shared around 9:00pm. At one stage, Roman slit Raihan's throat and fled, police and family members said.

The family was awakened by Raihan's cries and took him to a local hospital where doctors declared him dead, OC Mizanur said.

The body was sent to District Sadar Hospital for autopsy.

Filing of a case is underway.
