The Election Commission today warned three ruling Awami League lawmakers of taking action if they continue to violate electoral code of conduct.

The EC sent three separate letters to MP Abdul Hyee of Jhenaidah-1, Tahzeeb Alam Siddique of Jhenaidah-2 and Iqbal Hossain of Shariatpur-1, said an EC statement.

They were violating code of conduct for different local government elections slated for June 15.

The letters said, "According to electoral code of conduct lawmakers are among the important persons who enjoy government facilities and are not allowed to join any polls campaign."

"MPs are taking part in electioneering … Which is clear violation of electoral code of conduct," said one of the letters.
