Nahid Islam says Asif will not contest the polls

Former adviser to the interim government Asif Mahmud Shojib Bhuyain has joined the National Citizen Party (NCP).
NCP Convener Nahid Islam made the announcement at a press conference today at the party's headquarters in Banglamotor.

Asif Mahmud has been given the responsibility of NCP spokesperson, Nahid said, adding that Asif will not participate in the upcoming election.
He further said that Asif will serve as the head of the party's Election Steering Committee and will work to ensure the victory of NCP candidates in the 13th parliamentary election.
Earlier, on December 10, former LGRD adviser Asif resigned from the council of advisers.
On that day, Asif said he would participate in the upcoming national election.
