Shomprotir Oikya panel alleges 'administrative engineering' in Jucsu polls
Candidates from the "Shomprotir Oikya" panel today alleged that administrative engineering is underway to ensure Shibir's victory in the Jucsu polls.
Nur-e-Tamim, an assistant general secretary candidate from the panel, said, "All the students from every panel on this campus should really talk about this and decide whether this is even an election. An administrative engineering is being used to make Shibir win here."
"That the voting is not fair has been proven... So, does this election really have any value?" he told journalists today.
He made these remarks at a press conference held at Murad Chattar in Jahangirnagar University today.
The panel's general secretary candidate, Sharan Ehsan, said that since the announcement of the election schedule, there have been various complaints of irregularities against the university administration and the JU Election Commission.
He further said, "Today, we are witnessing severe irregularities in voting and biased behaviour from the administration. Before this, many candidates ran without undergoing drug tests, but there was no clear statement from the Election Commission on this issue."
He also alleged that in almost every hall, activists from Islami Chhatra Shibir distributed "slips" with their candidates' names.
"This was immediately protested by candidates from various panels. There has also been an accusation of a student being beaten at Jahanara Imam Hall. We believe these irregularities show that the election is not being conducted properly," he alleged.
