Body recovered from floating drum in N’ganj

Police recovered the body of a man from inside a drum floating in a canal in Narayanganj’s Siddhirganj area yesterday morning.

The body was found in the Nayapara canal of Dokkhin Kadamtali area, said Siddhirganj Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abdul Barik.

The deceased was identified as Md Ali, 32, of Charfesson upazila in Bhola, the OC said, adding that his identity was confirmed using fingerprint analysis with technological assistance.

Sub-Inspector Nur Alam Siddique, who visited the spot, said locals spotted the drum floating in the canal, and alerted police. Police brought the drum to the bank and found the body inside.

The OC said a rope was found inside the blue-coloured drum and several injury marks were visible on the body.

The body was sent to Narayanganj General Hospital for an autopsy.
