Local BNP leader shot dead in Pabna’s Atghoria
A local BNP leader was shot dead in the Chandipasha area of Atghoria upazila in Pabna this afternoon.
The deceased, Md Adom Ali, 55, of Satgacha area in Ekdanta union, was a former member of Ekdanta union parishad.
He was also serving as the president of ward-1 unit BNP in Ekdanta union, said Md Selim Hossain, organising secretary of the union unit.
Atghoria Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Nazmul Hossain said miscreants shot Adom on Chandipasha road at around 4:00pm, leaving him dead on the spot.
"We went to the site and recovered the body. The body has been sent to Pabna General Hospital morgue for an autopsy," the OC said, adding that the motive behind the murder is still unclear to the police.
"Earlier, miscreants had attacked his son, and now he has been shot dead," Selim said, adding that the killing does not appear to stem from political rivalry. “A personal or previous enmity might be the reason.”
The OC said Adom was named in several cases, including two murder cases.
"We are investigating the incident from various angles. Until the investigation progresses, we cannot confirm anything," the OC added.
