Yunus directs armed forces to ensure fair, fear-free election: ISPR

Chief Adviser Prof Dr Muhammad Yunus today directed the armed forces to discharge their duties with professionalism, neutrality, and inter-institutional coordination so that the upcoming 13th national election and referendum can be held in an inclusive, fear-free, and fair manner.

He made the remarks at an exchange of views with senior armed forces officers at the Helmet Auditorium of Army Headquarters.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) disclosed the update in a press release today.

At the outset of the meeting, the chief adviser mentioned the armed forces’ “glorious and responsible role” in meeting the country’s needs and later expressed his thanks and gratitude for maintaining law and order with patience and professionalism over a long period, the release said.

Army Chief General Waker-Uz-Zaman, Navy Chief Admiral M Nazmul Hasan, Air Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmud Khan, and Armed Forces Division Principal Staff Officer Lt Gen SM Kamrul Hasan received the chief adviser at the venue, the release reads.

The meeting discussed in detail various important and contemporary election-related issues, ISPR said.

Senior officers of the army, navy, and air force, guests, and members of the media were present, the release added.
