A month after reinstatement, Kohinoor Mia promoted with 11-year retrospective effect
A month after being reinstated, Kohinoor Mia was promoted to additional deputy inspector general, with the promotion backdated by 11 years, according to a government notification issued today.
The home ministry in a gazette issued today said Kohinoor Mia -- who was dismissed from service over a decade ago -- has been given a retrospective promotion to additional DIG (fourth grade).
Earlier, on March 9, the government decided to treat his dismissal period as active service, making him eligible for all service-related benefits.
Kohinoor Mia, who served as deputy commissioner (DC) of the then Dhaka Metropolitan Police’s western division, was removed from service on February 22, 2011, during the tenure of the Awami League government.
The notification further said he will be entitled to all outstanding salaries, allowances, and other benefits as per rules.
The order comes into effect immediately, it added.
