Second defamation case against Amir Hamza over remarks on Energy Minister Tuku
Another defamation case has been filed at a Sirajganj court against Kushtia-3 MP Mufti Amir Hamza for allegedly making derogatory remarks about Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku.
The court of Judge Suman Bhuiyan took the charges in cognisance and issued a summons against the MP.
The case was filed at around 11:30am today by Advocate Humayun Kabir, general secretary of Sirajganj District Bar Association.
According to the case statement, during a discussion in Kushtia Sadar on March 27, Mufti Amir Hamza called the energy minister an "atheist" and "anti-Islamic".
The complainant, Advocate Humayun Kabir, said, “By calling him (Tuku) an 'atheist' and 'anti-Islamic,' Mufti Amir Hamza has caused significant damage to his reputation."
On March 30, another lawyer, Advocate SM Nazmul Islam, filed a defamation case against Amir Hamza in a Sirajganj court over the same issue, seeking Tk 100 crore in compensation for the alleged damage to the minister’s reputation.
