One ring phone trap
Devious scammers adopted a new technique of fraudulence. The 'Better Business Bureau' (BBB) named it as “one ring phone scam”. It has been spotted and reported by the BBB that the phone calls are originating from foreign countries and the fraudsters auto-dial random numbers using a software which automatically hangs up the call after just one ring. Whenever the receiver calls back, the number gets cloned. Scammers have sorted out that plenty of people will call back a missed number and will get trapped by them.
The BBB suggests checking your cell phone bills carefully and inform the operator as soon as possible if any unauthorised charges are spotted. The sensible way to avoid the scam is to not receive out of state numbers like +268, +809, +473 etc. and ignore it anyways and if you do answer, don't call back.
