Open Rajshahi University

The Rajshahi University syndicate on Dec. 24 last year decided to hike various fees including exam fees. They also decided to introduce evening programmes. The general students started their demonstration against these whimsical decisions of the administration. While the students of RU were demonstrating, the BCL activists along with the police force attacked them. They even went to the extent of opening fire on the innocent students. Several students were injured severely. The BCL cadres also vandalised properties on the campus later. Following the unrest, RU authorities have shut down the campus for an indefinite period which will obviously increase session jam. Moreover, the admission process will be delayed. We urge the university authorities to discuss the matter with the protesting students to overcome the deadlock and open the campus as early as possible.
