The roar of the Tigers
I am going to remember for a long time when I got the news: Shakib Al Hasan with a maiden double century and Mushfiqur Rahman with a stately 159 recorded the highest partnership for Bangladesh in Test cricket—359—contributing to Bangladesh’s second highest total away from home—595 for 8 declared.

A homeless UP member?
Our correspondent from Moulvibazar started his report with ‘believe it or not’ and truly this story is shocking. An elected Union Parishad member who is apparently quite popular in the community does not have a place to live and therefore is forced to make her home under a bridge on Dhaka Sylhet highway.

When convicts are free, justice is captive
On January 9, 2012, Zubair Ahmed, a final year English student at Jahangirnagar University, died succumbing to his injuries after being severely tortured the day before. Five years since his death, four of his killers are still roaming free today. Three of them had fled a Dhaka court dock on February 23, 2015, after their bail was denied. The other, never showed up to court and has remained on the run ever since.

Against the grain
In an impressive move, three officers of the Department of Agricultural Extension have developed mobile apps aimed at helping farmers prevent pest attacks and control diseases that eat up a large portion of crops each year. Innovations like these will no doubt help farmers, often criticised as the most hidebound of managers, grow crops more efficiently using digital technology.

The way forward
Forty five years after independence, the revolutionary dreams for which our forefathers fought are still at issue. We are the heirs of that revolution against oppression and injustice. The torch has been passed to a new generation of Bangladeshis - born in a free country, proud of an ancient heritage, set to conquer the world.

Fix the broken windows
Yesterday was the International Anti-Corruption Day and almost everyone called for an end to corruption. But almost no one said how beyond calling for tougher laws and their enforcement. Here’s the catch. Who will enforce them? Will they come from another planet?

Ershad's own idea of upholding constitution
Gen Ershad perhaps is intentionally suffering from amnesia. Otherwise how could he claim that he did not violate the constitution by grabbing the state power in extra-constitutional means in March 1982?

Should TV channels force us to watch their dull content?
They say, Bangladeshi advertisements worth Tk 400 crore a year have gone to foreign channels. Their payments are mostly made illegally.
Besides the Unity also extended support to another demand to ban dubbed serial on television.
Putting aside the issue of illegal financial transaction by advertisers, the demands of the Media Unity raise some questions in the public mind.

Myanmar’s new probe body is a sham
There is little doubt that the questionable homegrown commission is simply a tool to temporarily quell the backlash that Suu Kyi is facing as a result of her silence and inaction on the army crackdown in the northwest, resulting in at least 86 deaths and 10,000 fleeing to Bangladesh.
