BNP today alleged that police and Awami League (AL) cadres are not allowing it to hold Iftar parties across the country.

The party came up with the statement in a press release signed its Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi.

In the statement, BNP alleged that Bangladesh Chattra League (BCL) men attacked and foiled an Iftar party organised by BNP in Palash upazila of Narsingdi on Friday, which was supposed to be attended by the party’s standing committee member Dr Moin Khan.

The party also claimed that police foiled several Iftar parties including Dohar upazila of Dhaka, Shibchar upazila of Madaripur, Tangail, Bhola's Tazumuddin and Natore.

In the press release, the party claimed that murder, forced disappearance, abduction and extra-judicial killings have been rampant even in the holy month of Ramadan.

It appears to be there is no government in the country considering the intensity and frequency of rape, gang rape and child abuse, the press release reads.

“Extreme level of anarchy is prevailing in the country,” it said.

“I strongly condemn and protest the attacks carried out by police and AL cadres on Iftar parties organised by BNP and call for immediate end to this unethical activities,” Rizvi said in the statement.
