JCD promises violence-free campus

Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) has placed its manifesto for the upcoming Ducsu election promising that they would work for making the campus free from violence and domination to woo voters.

JCD in its 15-point pledges said that they will remain vocal against recruitment of teacher on political basis, admission and academic tests questions paper leaks.

The student front of BNP unveiled its manifesto with the slogan of “Ducsu for the restoration of democracy,” on Thursday at the Modhur Canteen of Dhaka University (DU) ahead of Dhaka University Central Students' Union (Ducsu) polls slated for Monday.

Besides, they also promised to ensure the allocation of seats of dormitories on the basis of merits and to step up against the commercialisation of education and reduce the education cost of the students.

JCD General Secretary Anisur Rahman Khan said that if they are elected in the election, they would try to fulfil the promise. “We will also place theses pledges to the DU authorities and take necessary steps to realise the recommendations if we are elected.”

Chhatra Dal, who got chance of entering the DU campus after nine years ahead of the Ducsu polls, has failed to place full-fledged panel at four women dormitories.

JCD was driven out from the campus in 2010 when Awami League came to power.  

In the Ducsu election-holding after a long gap of 28 years, the JCD leaders also said if they elect in the race, they will carry out the Ducsu activities on the basis of “real” spirit of the liberation war.

The panel pledges that they will work to construct new dormitories on the university campus to reduce seat crisis and will take measures to renovate old ones.

JCD also promised for increasing number of the university bus and number of routes of transportation for the students and introduce internal transportation system in the university area.

The other pledges include—increase quality of foods at the dormitories, and increasing the deadline for entering of female students to their dormitories at 11:00pm, modernization of university medical centre and increase its bed to 100.

Increasing of research allocation, making internet available to all students, covering all halls and academic building under Wifi coverage, are some other promises of the JCD which were placed ahead of the election.

It also promised of implementation of all rational demands of the students from ethnic minorities and physically challenged groups if they won the election, the JCD leader said.
