Pope's peace move in ME

Pope Francis's 'diplomacy' to bring peace in the Middle East is praiseworthy (TDS, May 26). He invited Israeli president Shimon Peres and his Palestinian counterpart Mahmud Abbas to Vatican to pray for peace. “Building peace is difficult, but living without peace is a constant torment,” he said. He called the leaders to show courage to achieve peace based on a two-state solution. According to the media, this type of initiative by the Pope is the first of its kind. I think it is a very bold initiative by the Pope to have addressed such a pressing political issue during his religious trip to Bethlehem. What I also appreciate is that both Israel and Palestine responded positively to his call. Maybe a peace talk between the two rival countries will be initiated, which will eventually lead to the solution of the long-lasting Israel-Palestine crisis.
