When my mother claimed that she had tasted the best burger in the whole country, I just had to check the place out.

It's located in Banani and it opened back in February. Being relatively new, Preetom has already become much talked about, especially with their famous beef bacon burger. Like the name suggests, it includes 'beef bacon' (all their products are 100 percent halal as well).

Entering Preetom and taking a seat, I, naturally, ordered the beef burger. It contained a thick, tasty beef patty, slathered in herb mayo and cheese, some crispy and juicy beef bacon -- all in a fresh, soft bun.

Just a few bites and I was sure: It was one of the best burgers I'd ever tasted. It had the ideal taste and flavours, and everything was in just the right proportion. Evidently fresh, high quality ingredients are used. It's priced at BDT 280 and it's well worth your money. Preetom also offers chicken burgers, priced at BDT 280 as well.

The other item I tasted was the tato stick -- a pretty unique item that tasted great with the burger. The tato stick is a large potato which is sliced, flavoured and put through a stick. These crispy sticks come in different flavours and are an impressive substitute to your everyday fries.

Preetom, being a rather small place, doesn't have too many seats but they are doing their best to make up for that. Preetom hopes to have a place very close to their current outlet soon. The place may be a bit small but it's well decorated and diners will find the seats comfy. Pictures of their scrumptious dishes hang on the wall; this and the smell of fast food in the making is enough to get your mouth watering. Behind the counter, the cooks prepare your food in full visibility. You can see exactly what they're doing. Taking a look into the kitchen, you'll find it to be clean and hygienic. The cooks also wear gloves and hairnets. The staff is friendly and very efficient. If you require a spoon or extra glass they will get it instantly.

Preetom doesn't just serve burgers; they offer meals for breakfast, snacks, lunch and dinner too. The chocolate-y waffles sticks are a popular breakfast item at Preetom. Some other items are chow mein (BDT 150), coffee and sandwiches.

With fast food joints popping up in every corner of the city we call home, we are left wanting a taste of something different from the stereotypical food and that's exactly what Preetom offers.
