Punishing crimes of acid, arson attacks
The Acid Crime Control Act of 2002 is intended to control acid crimes by mandating stringent punishment to the criminals ranging from three to fifteen years in prison, a hefty amount of fine to life imprisonment to death penalty. Yes, the highest punishment is death penalty.
Now what about throwing petrol bomb on passengers and drivers of bus or any other means of transports by criminals? The victims of petrol bomb or gun powder, whose faces and bodies are partially or totally burnt, get the same pain as acid victims. Why not awarding these criminals the same capital punishment? Is there anybody in Bangladesh who can file a writ petition on this matter to the High Court?
