Remove illiteracy to combat crime

How do you feel when you are walking down a deserted alley carrying your one month's salary after a hard working month, and suddenly someone comes and snatches it away from you?! Well this is a common scene in this country. So how many types of crimes do we have to be careful of? Starting from homicides to drug abuse, people can be harmed by any type of criminal offence.
Poverty, illiteracy and unemployment are some of the major reasons for most of the criminal offences. Sometimes due to extreme poverty people commit crimes. Sometimes criminals set fire to the victim's properties, for example, cars and houses that cause people to feel insecure.
Illiteracy being a major reason for crime, what we can do is, educate at least one person or at least pay for her/his books and stationeries. This will help people to get a job. If a person feels secure, then he/she may never resort to crime or violence. Can't we help them which will eventually help us and our society?
