Shameless flattery

A remark by economist Dr. Abul Barakat of Dhaka University, who is also chairman of Janata Bank Limited, that Hasina is Bangladesh's biggest economist, has drawn my attention. He was addressing a function organised by Gopalganj Zilla Samity at Banganbandhu International Conference Centre, Dhaka recently.
When all people including businessmen, service holders and day labourers are passing through a critical time during the Awami League regime headed by Sheikh Hasina, and when democracy in Bangladesh is at stake, such flattery by Barakat shocked us.
