When I went to Kolkata this April, I had severe difficulties figuring out what's where. It was a budgeted trip so I was low on mobile internet and there was barely any Wi-Fi in public locations. That's when MAPS.ME saved my life. 

MAPS.ME lets you navigate big city maps without an internet connection. Unlike Google Maps, you do not have to pay up huge 3G bills just to make sure if you are entering the right sector in Uttara anymore. The app lets you download the map of the city you need and you can keep on searching and locating from then on. 

With a very friendly user interface, this app lets you enjoy all its features offline- starting from routing locations with accuracy to zooming in and finding nearby restaurants, hospitals, ATMs, hotels, banks, pharmacies and lots more. You can bookmark a place, share your location and even export or import from other maps.  

The best thing about this app is its well-organised platform. But there are drawbacks as well. The main one being its 47.58 MB size and the large sized maps of big cities which might be difficult to download for devices having a small internal memory and no memory card. But other than that, it's an amazing app for anyone who needs a map.
