Graduate orientation of spring 2015 held at NSU

The graduate orientation ceremony of School of Health & Life Sciences for spring 2015 semester was held on February 6, 2015 at the Recreation Hall of NSU campus located at Bashundhara. The newly enrolled graduate students of Public Health, Environmental Science, Pharmacy, Microbiology and Biochemistry joined the ceremony.
In the opening session, Zahid Maleque, State Minister, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, consented the programme as the chief guest where Prof. G.U. Ahsan, Dean, School of Public Health and Life Sciences chaired the ceremony.
Benajir Ahmed, Chairman; Azim Uddin Ahmed, Member, BOT, NSU Trust and Prof. Amin U. Sarkar, Vice Chancellor, NSU attended the ceremony as special guests. Muqeed Majumder Babu, Chairman, Prokriti O Jibon Foundation was present as the guest of honour. Among others Dr. Gour Gobinda Goswami, NSU Treasurer and Dr. ATM Nurul Amin, Director, Graduate Studies and Research also delivered speeches.

SUVs celebrate 3 years

Stamford University Volunteers (SUVs), under Stamford University Bangladesh, has been an active club for the past 3 years. They have done many activities including winter clothes collection, donating to underprivileged schools and campaigns against environmental and noise pollution. To honour the members the club handed out certificates and crests to members in a ceremony held on February 6, 2015. Special crests were provided to the President and Vice President of Stamford University, long time sponsor Gulf Environmental Technologies and the chief faculty coordinator of SUVs. The award ceremony was followed by a cultural programme. The group aims to take part in more activities that have impact on society and environment.

Orientation programme of law department at UU

Uttara University celebrated the orientation programme of spring semester of 2015 arranged by the Department of Law at the Uttara University Auditorium on February 7, 2015. Prof. Dr. Taslima Monsoor, Dean, Faculty of Law, Dhaka University and Adviser of the Dept. of Law, Uttara University chaired the orientation programme while Engr. G. M. Jainul Abedin Bhuiya, Chairman, RAJUK graced the event as the chief guest. Prof. M. Azizur Rahman, VC, and Prof. Dr. Eaysmin Ara Lekha, Pro-VC of the university were also present. Barrister Hassan Faruk, Chairman of the Dept. of Law presented the inaugural speech. Besides them, Adviser, Prof. Faez M. Serajul Hoque, Treasurer, Prof. Mumtaz Begum and Registrar, Kazi Mohiuddin, also attended the orientation programme along with other distinguished faculties.

Seminar on accounting at ASAUB

Business Club of ASA University Bangladesh (ASAUB) organised a seminar on February 5, 2015 titled ‘Accounting as a Career: Global Perspective' to enhance the knowledge of the students about the prospect of accounting as an academic discipline and the demand of accounting in national and international perspectives. Prof. Md. Nazrul Islam, Dean, Faculty of Business presided over the seminar. Md. Mostafiz Rahman, Country Manager, PRAN-RFL Group, USA and President of Time Distribution Inc., USA was present as the resource person.
Prof. Dr. Dalem Ch. Barman, Vice Chancellor, ASAUB, Prof. Md. Muinuddin Khan, Adviser, ASAUB, Shah Md. Al-Emran Sarker, Asst. Prof. and Proctor of ASAUB were present in the programme.
Teachers and students from the Dept. of Business Administration of ASAUB also participated in the seminar.

SUB hosts inter university programming contest

The State University of Bangladesh (SUB) hosted the SUB Inter University Programming Contest 2015 on February 7, 2015 at its own campus. The event was organised by the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. This contest drew numerous programming enthusiasts for solving complex real world problems using advanced knowledge of computing in a five hour session. 91 teams participated in the contest. The contest was inaugurated by the Vice Chancellor of SUB, Prof. Dr. Iftekhar Ghani Chowdhury. Prof. Dr. Mohammad Kaykobad from BUET led a fifteen-member panel of judges.
In the concluding session, prizes were awarded by the chief guest Dr. A.M. Shamim, President, BOT, SUB. First, second and third prizes were awarded to NSU Shinobis, SUST_Zephyr, and BUET Meow respectively.
