Cricket, How Does it Work?
As I write this editorial, cricket is happening around me. Journalists and book critics are yelling their heads off and out the window I see people marching up the street with big green and red flags. My Facebook news feed is full of jokes about being happy and demands that someone arrange some horrible accident for Tamim. As someone who does not cricket all of this cricket is completely bewildering to me. And for a change I don't mind at all.
Seeing as how the past few months have been one monstrous cavalcade of senseless violence that's been fracturing us as persons and as a people, there's something very indefinably touching about our ability to unite and enjoy a game. It makes absolutely no sense at all, but then again nothing does anymore.
Cricket on. This has been beautiful.
