Malan guides Comilla to victory over struggling Rangpur

Dawid Malan's 24-ball 42 handed his side Comilla Warriors a six-wicket win against Rangpur Rangers at Chattogram today. The win was Comilla's second of the tournament while Rangpur Rangers were left ruing their fate having failed to win any of their four matches till now in this BPL.

Electing to bat, Rangpur were handed a fast start by Mohammad Shahzad as he smashed the ball to all parts during his 27-ball stay, hitting seven fours and four sixes during his 61-run knock. Rangpur were not able to keep on piling the runs losing a few wickets in the middle including the wicket of Shahzad, who was removed by Sunzamul Islam. Muzeeb-ur-Rahman bagged two wickets as Rangpur managed 181 for eight.

In reply, Bhanuka Rajapaksa and Soumya Sarker started the chase brightly during a 61-run stand. Bhanuka blitzed to a 15-ball 32 before falling to Rangpur skipper Nabi. Sabbir Rahman, who is looking to get back into the Tigers' T20I side steered the side through the middle overs during a key innings. Soumya fell after scoring 41 off 34 and Sabbir then starred with Malan in a 56-run third-wicket partnership. Sabbir missed out on his fifty with Mustafizur Rahman bagging his scalp and the match went to the last over.

Needing four from last three deliveries, Malan clinched the win with a boundary to clinch a six-wicket win in a close match.
