TRENT BOULT

The left-arm quick chose the World Cup for the best time in his short career. Having played only 16 ODIs and taken only 18 wickets, Trent Boult came into the World Cup with a reputation of having brisk pace and the ability to move the ball both ways. So he was preferred over the likes of veteran Kyle Mills and Mitchell McClenaghan. And the left-armer is repaying the faith of the New Zealand selectors by producing incredible spells, alongside opening partner Tim Southee. The two of them has shared 34 wickets so far in seven matches, with Boult claiming 19 at an average of 14.63 and economy rate of 4.21. Yesterday was probably his best performance so far as he removed the first four batsmen in his first five overs, and ended with figures of four for 44.
