Hridoy named T20I vice-captain as Bangladesh announce squad for Australia series

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) announced the squad for the upcoming three-match T20I series against Australia, with Tawhid Hridoy appointed as the new vice-captain.

Selectors confirmed that Saif Hassan had asked to step down as vice-captain, paving the way for Hridoy to become Litton Das's deputy.

The squad sees the return of pace trio Taskin Ahmed, Nahid Rana and Mustafizur Rahman, all of whom missed the recent T20I series against New Zealand. The three replace Mohammad Saifuddin, Ripon Mondol and Tanzim Sakib in the side.

Selectors also revealed that Ripon is currently nursing an injury.

The three-match series against Australia is scheduled to be played in Chattogram, with the matches set to take place on June 17, 19 and 21.

T20I series squad: Litton Kumer Das (captain), Parvez Hossain Emon, Tanzid Hasan, Mohammed Saif Hassan, Shamim Hossain, Tawhid Hridoy (vice-captain), Quazi Nurul Hasan Sohan, Shak Mahedi Hasan, Nasum Ahmed, Rishad Hossain, Shoriful Islam, Mustafizur Rahman, Taskin Ahmed, Nahid Rana and Abdul Gaffar Saqlain.
