Tigresses cap flawless qualifiers campaign with seven-wicket victory

Bangladesh drew a perfect conclusion to their spotless campaign in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifiers 2026, defeating the Netherland by seven wickets in their final Super Six match on Sunday at the Mulpani Cricket Ground in Kathmandu, their seventh victory in as many outings in the competition.

The Tigresses had already sealed their spot for the Women’s T20 World Cup, set to take place later in the year in England, and have finished the campaign at the top of the table.

Nigar Sultana and Co had won all four of their matches in the group-stage and carried on with the same momentum in the Super Six, winning three games on the trot without ever breaking a sweat.

On Sunday, the bowlers led by off-spinner Nahida Akter, who picked up 3-10 in her four overs, set up the victory by restricting the Dutch side to 102-6 after being asked to bowl first.

Nahida struck thrice inside eight overs as Netherlands were reduced to 25-5, at risk of getting bundled out cheaply.

Netherlands, who have also secured qualification for their maiden Women’s T20 World Cup, then showed some resistance Sanya Khurana and Robine Rijk putting up a 78-run partnership which ran till the penultimate ball of the innings.

Sanya remained unbeaten on 43 off 37 balls while Robine made 39 off 45.

In reply, Bangladesh lost both openers inside two overs but an unbeaten 50 off 44 from skipper Nigar and a 23-ball 33 not out from Sobhana Mostary, helped Bangladesh reach 105-3 in just 16.4 overs.

Alongside Bangladesh and Netherlands, Ireland have also secured qualification. The match between Scotland and the USA set to take place later today will decide who will get the fourth and final qualification slot.
