Yasir ruled out of Test series
Bangladesh batsman Yasir Ali has been ruled out of the upcoming two-match Test series against the West Indies after suffering a back injury on first day of the three-day practice match against the Cricket West Indies President's XI at the Coolidge Cricket Ground on June 10.
Yasir was unbeaten on 11 on the first day before being forced to retire hurt after complaining of back pain. A later MRI revealed that the discomfort stemmed discogenic pain in his lumbar spine.
"Recovery from such injuries takes about two-three weeks. Therefore, he will not be available for the Test series," national team physio Bayjedul Islam was quoted as saying by a press release from the BCB.
Yasir was expected to make a comeback to the playing eleven in the absence of the experienced Mushfiqur Rahim and his injury has left selectors in a bind, with them yet to name a replacement.
The first Test against the West Indies is scheduled to begin in Antigua from June 16 while the second Test is scheduled to start on 24 June in Saint Lucia.
