Unbeaten Bangladesh march into Women’s Junior AHF Cup hockey final
Bangladesh extended their winning run in the Women's Junior AHF Cup with a resounding 8-0 victory over Pakistan in their third match in Muscat, Oman on Thursday.
The outcome secures Bangladesh a place in the final of the five-team tournament with one group match remaining.
Having opened the tournament with wins over Hong Kong (6-0) and Uzbekistan (1-0), Bangladesh dominated from the outset and took the lead in the fourth minute through Shakira Rimon, who converted a penalty corner.
The women in red and green continued to pile on the pressure, scoring regularly until the end of the third quarter, with no goals added in the final period.
Prionti Oishi, Nadira Ema, Kona Akter, Ayrin Riya and Tashfiya Tisha also got on the scoresheet, with Nadira earning player-of-the-match honours after completing a hattrick.
Bangladesh, who face second-placed Kazakhstan today, will contest the final on July 18.
