The results of the Covid-19 tests that the Bangladesh cricketers underwent in New Zealand yesterday are expected to arrive today and a clean chit would enable to Tigers to get preparations underway for the two-match Test series scheduled to begin from January 1.

Although it was supposed to be a regular meeting of the Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) governing council to chalk out the future of the upcoming franchise-based tournament, things took a dramatic turn at the home of cricket in Mirpur when BCB boss Nazmul Hassan decided to begin the meeting ahead schedule.

The extended quarantine period has taken a huge toll on the Bangladesh players on their current tour of New Zealand for a two-Test series, starting on January 1 next year. And according to Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) president Nazmul Hassan, this has led to some players even pondering a return to the country midway through the series.

The New Zealand Ministry of Health extended the isolation period of the visiting Bangladesh team by three days, meaning the Tigers will now have to be in strict quarantine in their rooms until December 20.
