Miraz bags four as Tigers bundle out Windies for 265
Bangladesh were able to capitalise on the momentum gained late in the afternoon session as the Tigers bundled out West Indies soon after tea on the second day of their first Test at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua today.
The Windies did pile up a decent 265, taking a lead of 162 runs, in their first innings.
Off-spinner Mehedi Hasan Miraz played a crucial role in helping the Tigers turn things in their favour. The all-rounder bounced back after a lousy first spell in the Test and bowled brilliantly in the second and final session of the day.
Miraz kept on troubling the batters with his odd arm deliveries and got the rewards in the form of the wickets of Kyle Mayers and Joshua Da Silva at the latter stage of the afternoon session. And Khaled removing Windies skipper Kraigg Brathwaite to deny him a ton for just six runs meant that Bangladesh assumed control of the game for the first time in the game, reducing the hosts to 231 for six at tea.
Miraz struck once again soon after tea to ensure Bangladesh stay in charge as the off-spinner had Alzarri Joseph caught behind. Ebadot Hossain removed Kemar Roach in the very next over before Miraz took a stunner at extra cover off a Khaled delivery to dismiss Jermaine Blackwood (63 off 139 deliveries).
The all-rounder then wrapped up the Windies innings by trapping Jayden Seales in front. Miraz ended with impressive figures of four for 59 in 22.5 overs that included six maidens.
