5 former SUST students detained
Students of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology’s (SUST) have been protesting since January 13, demanding the resignation of the provost of Begum Sirajunnesa Chowdhury Hall. The century-old haat of Dhaka city
The word “haat” is often associated with rural areas, where on a particular day of the week a makeshift marketplace is set up on a river bank or under the shade of a huge banyan tree. Usually, locals sell their homegrown vegetables and other organic poultry, among others. However, what’s amazing is that in the middle of a concrete jungle that is Dhaka City, there is still a haat that’s been running for the last 100 years or so. This haat can be found every Wednesday in the Maradia area of Dhaka.
