REBUILDING THE NATION'S BACKBONE
Bombs going off in all directions, buses burning, parents caught in the middle rushing to shelter children on way back from school, and of course, the frequent date changes of the SSC exams - the last couple of months were disastrous for the Secondary School Certificate examinees. Even though the last few weeks have been comparatively peaceful, the beginning of the Higher Secondary Certificate examinations, last Wednesday, raises anxious questions among parents, students and teachers - will the students be made to pay the price once again? As it is, schools all over the country are trying to fill the gaps and recover from the loss caused by hartals and blockades. Will the next few months prove to be worse for our students?
In a conversation with the Minister for the Ministry of Education in Bangladesh, Nurul Islam Nahid shares plans for the recovery process, how headmasters and locals need to come together and cooperate, for the plans to succeed and also motivates students to be strong and look forward and ensures HSC examinees of plenty of security at the examination.
