According to a recent survey of Manusher Jonno Foundation (MJF), a human rights organisation, at least 4,249 women and 456 children were subjected to domestic violence in 27 districts of Bangladesh in April 2020, where 1,672 women and 424 children faced violence for the first time in their lives.

30 youth organisations receive Joy Bangla Youth Award 2020
A virtual ceremony to announce the winners of this year’s Joy Bangla Youth Award recipients was arranged recently. Joy Bangla Youth Award 2020, the fourth edition of the award, recognised 30 youth- led organisations for their outstanding and commendable efforts to bring positive change in the country. Since its inception in 2014, Young Bangla, a research wing of CRI, has been recognising the efforts of youths, who initiate and carry forward positive social changes.

Asian University for Women (AUW) Japan Support Committee hosted its first-ever virtual fundraiser, ‘Reimagined: Stories of Resilience’, on October 30, 2020, and surpassed its goals by netting over US $1 million to support young women’s pursuit of education. More than 320 AUW supporters globally watched the committee’s 11th annual fundraiser live-streamed from the Aoyama Treehouse in Tokyo.
