Tagore enthusiasts thronged several venues of the capital to celebrate the bard's 154th birth anniversary on May 8.

Tagore first crossed the 'kalapani' (the ocean, crossing which was considered inauspicious by Hindus) in 1878 for higher studies to London via Paris, and stayed there for a year and a half (September 1878-February 1880).
