Bangladesh’s exports rebounded sharply in June, but the late surge was not enough to offset weak demand earlier in the year, leaving export earnings for FY2025-26 slightly lower than the previous year.

The country shipped $4.2 billion worth of goods in June 2026

April earnings climbed from $3.01 billion a year earlier and were up 15.20 percent from $3.48 billion in March

For Bangladesh, export diversification has become an existential demand.

Bangladesh’s plans aimed at diversifying export baskets are yet to bring about the expected results as the priority sectors are not enjoying most of the benefits promised in the Export Policy for 2021-24, according to entrepreneurs. 

Exports fetched a record $5.37 billion in December as consumer spending centring on Christmas in the Western world returned in full swing after two pandemic holiday seasons marked by health fears and supply shortages.

Bangladesh recorded robust export earnings riding on the main export earner knitwear and woven garments in the first two months of the current fiscal year.  

Export earnings grew by 15 per cent year-on-year to $3.98 billion in July, the first month of the current fiscal year.
