The latest fiasco, involving Malaysian multinational oil and gas giant Petronas, has now earned BFF international embarrassment

A day after Bangladesh Football Federation announced Petronas as title sponsors for its rebranded Bangladesh League, the Malaysian Oil and Gas exploration and production company refuted the claim through a media release. 

Elsewhere, newly promoted PWD Sports Club shocked Arambagh KS in Manikganj.

Defending champions Mohammedan made a disappointing start to their Bangladesh Football League campaign, falling to a 2–0 defeat against Fortis at the Bashundhara Kings Arena on Saturday.

Last season's runners-up Abahani received a jolt in their opening match of Bangladesh Football League with a goalless draw against 10-man Rahmatganj at Birshreshtha Flight Lt. Matiur Rahman Stadium in Munshiganj on Friday.
