The question is no longer whether Bangladesh can produce globally competitive startups. The more important question is how quickly the ecosystem can absorb the lessons of the companies already doing it.

Bangladesh and India reiterated their commitment to strengthening collaboration in the startup sector, including expanding exchange programmes.

On Day 2 of BASIS SoftExpo 2023, a lively debate session was held, with each side discussing the importance of 'growth' and 'profitability' in startups.

The Bangladeshi startup ecosystem has seen remarkable growth in the past few years with approximately 1,200 active startups across sectors, including fintech, logistics, healthcare, tourism, agriculture and education. In fact, startups like ShopUp, bKash, Pathao, Chaldal, Maya, Shajgoj, and iFarmer have innovated new products and processes to transform the market and have attracted millions of dollars in foreign investments for Bangladesh along with creating thousands of new jobs.
