Disease outbreaks have destroyed shrimp across hundreds of farms in Batiaghata of Khulna, with farmers reporting estimated losses of more than Tk 15 crore over the past one to one-and-a-half months.

Noni Gopal Baidya, a resident of Sutarkhali union in Dacope, a southwestern coastal upazila under Khulna division, began farming exportable black tiger shrimp on his 6-7 bighas of land in 1991.
