The BNP has taken an initiative to make ministers accountable not only in parliament but also before the party’s grassroots leaders, party sources said.

The BNP high command has decided to take a tougher stance against a section of its grassroots leaders and activists amid growing complaints that their misconduct is damaging the ruling party’s image and giving the opposition more room to criticise.

For all its pro-reform posturing, BNP has yet to signal a real willingness to lead political reforms, including within itself.
