Italian club Como pulled off a dream debut in the Champions League with a 4-1 win over RB Leipzig on Thursday, and manager Cesc Fabregas was happy to see his team live up to the standards of Europe's elite club competition.

Como's first-ever qualification to Europe's elite club competition meant a race against time to get their lakeside Stadio Sinigaglia home upgraded to meet UEFA guidelines. Failure to do so would have meant playing their home games 200km away at the home of Sassuolo, but Cesc Fabregas's side were spared that and celebrated in style.

Hakan Calhanoglu's early strike earned Inter Milan a 1-0 win at Cagliari on Sunday as they continued a perfect start to their Serie A title defence, while Como edged Napoli 2-1 to spoil Massimiliano Allegri's home debut.

The plan to relocate the Italian league match between AC Milan and Como to Perth, Australia, in early February has been cancelled, organisers announced Monday, following criticism of the project.
