Numerous shops and goods at the capital's New Super Market were destroyed in a catastrophic fire. 30 firefighting units, along with teams from army, navy, air force, Rab, BGB, police, and local volunteers brought the blaze under control.

"Starting with one shop, we expanded to five shops over the past 10 years. We had a business worth Tk 5 crore. Now we have nothing,"

"Fire has spread to at least six markets"

Many people from nearby markets were also seen taking their belongings out of the area, with everyone occupying the street with their possessions

The cause of the fire could not be known immediately

"Four units of firefighters rushed there on information around 10:50am, the fire was brought under control around 11:15am"
